Swine whine

"Sur ki baccho!..jee paapaa...?" Apart from this being a very Sholay-ish dialogue between pigs, it was actually the brain wave of my friend Aishwaria for their PSA practicals. The idea was simply to educate fellow people to be clean through this season of swine flue fear. The death toll is rising, the fear is snowballing on these tolls, bizarre rumours and on the frantic flare-up of fevers where ever you turn. And recently a harried looking doc trying to convince people that the intensity of the flu is slowly subsiding.

The amount of media frenzy on it makes my granny down in Trivandrum grip her piece of saree to her nose when she sees other people in TV proudly baring those hospital masks! Every other campus in Pune shut for now. Does that make the students who return after a week long hiatus safer? Doubt that. The fact is media loves lapping up something that has so much of psychological effect. This perhaps is "the" news story after 9/11 that caught the fear pulse of the nation at large. H1N1 has become synonymous to HIV for folks. Layman's knowledge which fuels his fear. Cant beat him for thinking so; all he hears is that it as incurable and results in death. A more clear understanding or damage control is of least botheration for any media. The doctors all over are murmuring about tulsi(basil leaves) and aamla and Eucalyptus having recuperative and remedial properties against this much feared menace. These are the common things that will usually pop out from your family cupboard when you sneeze on a seasonal flu . All should hail simple sensibility and sit back and give those gray matters some food for thought than worry it silly. Cheers to good health :) !
