Globalisation is believed to have reared an accused affliction to itself, for each of its polished globalised citizen seems to follow an evident pattern. A pattern that maintains a constant head turn towards western culture with only an amorphous and woolly sense of patriotism to pin them down to their land of birth.
Patriotism becomes but a mere social urge to hold to a commonly
ratable something. "A question of Indian pride"(The
Hindu-Magazine;Feb 25) shatters this very idiosyncrasy of the hugely far-flung Indian psyche. Anyone can play the blame game and retreat to a laid back state without caring an ounce for the genocides, serial murders, rampant rearing of terrorism or mishaps due to pure negligence.
Even if violence is never an answer, action is and to play dumb and deaf in the name of peace is the stand of a coward. The foundations of our country has been fortified to an extent by the the still echoing ideals of Mahatma Gandhi and of centuries of imbibing civilization. Thus we should give it a try to pitch in our contribution, even a solemn word of acceptance or a cry for the cry of those who are unheard.
